New Cruise Ships Coming in 2027

Seven announced ocean ships worth comparing for 2027 are Carnival Festivale, Norwegian Aura, Explora IV, Oceania Sonata, Hero of the Seas, MSC World Atlantic and Disney Believe. They serve different budgets and travel styles. This is a selected ocean ship guide checked September 5, 2026, not a count of every ship being built worldwide.

Spring: Festivale and Aura

Carnival Festivale is scheduled to leave Southampton on May 2, 2027 for its maiden transatlantic voyage. Its first Port Canaveral cruise is May 19, followed by a program centered on six and eight day Caribbean itineraries. It is an Excel class ship with music themed spaces and family water attractions. Norwegian Aura has an announced May 21, 2027 departure from Trieste to Barcelona before moving to Miami in June. Norwegian publishes 170,000 gross tons and 3,879 guests at double occupancy. Its Ocean Heights outdoor activity area is a key attraction for families. Check the specific route: the announced first Miami summer focuses on the eastern Caribbean, with western Caribbean sailings following in winter.

Summer: Explora IV, Sonata and Hero

Explora IV is scheduled to debut in summer 2027. Its inaugural collection includes Northern Europe, the Baltic, Iceland, Greenland and eastern North America. This is a suite focused luxury option, so compare the total fare and included services rather than judging it against a family ship by passenger capacity alone.

Hero of the Seas, Royal Caribbean's fourth Icon class ship, is due in Miami in August 2027. Announced voyages are seven night eastern and western Caribbean trips. Compare the promised attractions with the existing ships in our Icon class guide before deciding how much a new ship is worth to you.

Later in the year

MSC World Atlantic is scheduled for Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral beginning in November 2027. It belongs to MSC's World class. The specific date you intend to buy matters more than the broad winter launch label, especially when arranging separate flights.

Disney Believe is planned for late 2027. Disney has revealed a Moana inspired Grand Hall and other creative details, but the official ship update reviewed for this guide does not confirm a homeport or maiden departure date. Do not turn guesses about another Disney ship's redeployment into a confirmed Believe itinerary.

How to book a new ship sensibly

A launch announcement is a plan. Before paying, confirm the named sailing, deposit terms, final payment date and what happens if delivery or the itinerary changes. Read any travel protection terms rather than assuming a construction delay is covered. Flexible travel arrangements reduce the cost of changing plans.
