Parking and Arrival Times at NYC Area Cruise Terminals

By The Fathom Fares Team · Published Aug 28, 2026 · Updated Sep 5, 2026 · Cruising From US Home Ports

New York cruise parking means three different locations: Manhattan, Brooklyn and Cape Liberty in New Jersey. Match your reservation to the terminal before choosing a garage, hotel or transfer. As checked September 5, 2026, published standard parking is $45 per night at Manhattan and Brooklyn, and $35 per day at Cape Liberty; billing rules differ.

Parking and vehicle arrival

For an independent garage, price the complete stay, any oversized vehicle charge and transportation to the ship. Do not assume a hotel allows cruise parking because it includes parking for the night you sleep there. Compare the total with a return car service in your cruise budget.

Airports and hotels by terminal

Newark, EWR, is a practical airport to compare first for Cape Liberty because both are in New Jersey. For Manhattan or Brooklyn, compare JFK, LaGuardia and Newark using the flight and the journey to your actual hotel and terminal. A cheaper ticket can add crossings, tolls or extra transfers.

Midtown West suits a Manhattan departure and a city stay. Downtown Brooklyn or Lower Manhattan can suit Brooklyn, depending on whether you plan a car or ferry. For Cape Liberty, a Newark or Elizabeth hotel can simplify a late airport arrival; Jersey City suits a stay with time to visit the city. These are location choices, not promises of lower rates or included shuttles.

Ferry and rail options

For Brooklyn, the NYC Ferry South Brooklyn service stops at Red Hook/Atlantic Basin beside the terminal. Wall Street/Pier 11 and East 34th Street are Manhattan boarding points on the current route. Check your sailing date's schedule and allow for the trip to the landing, the wait and the final walk.

Cape Liberty does not have a train at the terminal door. Royal Caribbean describes taking PATH to New Jersey, connecting with the Hudson Bergen Light Rail to Bayonne's 34th Street station, then taking a taxi for the final port leg. With several cases, compare that chain with a direct vehicle.

Our three terminal comparison covers access in more detail. Compare the full ferry and direct car journeys from Brooklyn, especially if you are heading to JFK or LaGuardia.

Arrival windows and winter delays

Plan to reach the correct terminal during your assigned arrival window, with time beforehand for parking or transfers. Keep identification, cruise documents and medications out of checked bags. A ship's departure time is not its final check in deadline.

For a long drive or flight, staying the night before gives you time to handle disruption. On winter departures, snow and ice can affect roads as well as flights. For the trip home, allow for disembarkation and luggage collection before any train or airport connection.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cape Liberty parking the same as New York City parking?

No. Cape Liberty is in Bayonne, New Jersey, with its own terminal parking. Manhattan and Brooklyn have different facilities across the harbor. Use the terminal named in your cruise documents when entering an address or making a reservation; a search result labeled New York cruise parking could describe the wrong location.

Can I take a ferry to the Brooklyn cruise terminal?

Yes. The South Brooklyn NYC Ferry route serves Red Hook/Atlantic Basin beside the terminal. Check the schedule for your date and leave time to reach the landing with your luggage. The ferry is useful from suitable waterfront locations, but it is not automatically the most direct transfer from an airport or every Manhattan hotel.

How early should I arrive at a New York cruise terminal?

Follow the arrival window in your cruise line’s instructions, while planning the drive, parking or ferry journey to leave a buffer before it. Do not confuse the appointment with the final boarding deadline. Arriving hours early can leave you waiting, but aiming near the final cutoff leaves little room for a disrupted transfer.
