How Much Does a World Cruise Cost?
A full world cruise can cost tens of thousands of dollars per person, but the listed fare must be available before it is a usable booking quote. On October 4, 2026, Oceania’s official table listed US $87,099 per person, based on double occupancy, for a B3 Veranda on Vista’s 180 day Miami to London voyage departing January 6, 2027. That is $174,198 for two, but the category was waitlisted. It is a priced example, not a currently available offer or the minimum across cruise lines.
Compare a cabin you can actually book, its included benefits and the total for your party. The earlier September 5 check recorded availability for this category; the changed status shows why a dated price is not a reservation.
A worked budget, not a fare quote
Suppose two people are considering a 120 night voyage. The figures below are hypothetical assumptions in US dollars, chosen to show the calculation. They are not available fares or a claim about what a particular line charges.
- Cruise fare including required taxes and port charges: $30,000 per person, or $60,000 for two.
- Unincluded onboard costs: $50 per person per night, or $12,000 for two over 120 nights.
- Excursions and independent transport: $6,000 for the couple.
- Flights, hotels and transfers: $4,000 for the couple.
- Insurance, documents and other trip preparation: $3,000 for the couple.
That example totals $85,000 for two, before home expenses and a contingency reserve. Replace every assumption with your own quote. If drinks, laundry, gratuities or excursions are already included, do not add them again. If your preferred tours exceed the allowance, increase it before deciding the cruise is affordable.
Compare what the fare buys
Request a written list covering gratuities, drinks, WiFi, laundry, specialty dining, shore excursions, flights and transfers. Check any limits, excluded tours and conditions attached to promotional benefits. Do not apply a full voyage perk to a shorter segment without confirmation.
Regent's world cruise materials, for example, describe a broad package of included services, while other products leave more to price separately. That does not establish which quote is cheaper for you. Compare the same cabin occupancy and the extras you will actually use. Our extra cost guide helps build the checklist.
Fathom Fares now tracks lines including Holland America, Oceania, Regent and Silversea. Coverage of a line does not mean every full world voyage, segment or promotional package appears in the fare feed. Confirm the full trip directly before relying on a shorter sailing's price.
For the fare types and travel extras on two luxury lines, see our Regent versus Silversea cost comparison. Apply the same itemized approach to your full voyage quote.
Check the map, not only the name
A voyage sold as a world cruise may circle the globe or concentrate on a major region. Princess's announced 2027 Grand Circle Pacific includes a 129 day version with 61 destinations, but its Pacific focused route is not a full global circumnavigation. Check the actual route, start and finish ports, sea days and time ashore.
Some long voyages also sell segments. Compare the exact segment quote and benefits with the full sailing; neither a lower daily price nor identical availability is guaranteed. A shorter section can help you test the practicalities of extended life aboard.
The costs outside the ship
Keep housing, utilities, pet care, mail arrangements and other continuing expenses in the budget. Price flights at both ends and the cost of getting home unexpectedly. Check whether any medical or travel policy covers the entire duration, destinations and activities, rather than assuming a product used for a short trip works here. Our insurance guide explains the questions to ask.
Before paying a deposit, obtain the cancellation schedule and all payment deadlines. Do not rely on an expired early booking offer. If a specific cabin matters, start comparisons when the voyage opens for sale; the booking guide covers the tradeoff between choice and later price changes.
