Regent vs Silversea: Which Costs Less Overall?

By The Fathom Fares Team · Published Sep 5, 2026 · Cruise Line Deep Dives

Regent can cost less overall when you use its included excursions and restaurants. Silversea can be the better buy when its lower fare leaves enough room for the tours and travel you actually want. Neither wins from the advertised fare alone. Compare the same travel dates, suite features and cancellation terms before adding flights.

This comparison checks policies on September 5, 2026 and focuses on regular ocean cruises. Silversea expedition voyages have different logistics and inclusions.

Start with the fare name

Regent's All Inclusive Cruise Fare includes its onboard package and a selection of included shore excursions. Its older Ultimate All Inclusive offer also bundled flights, airport transfers and a chauffeur credit. Those names are not interchangeable.

For US and Canada guests, Regent introduced Air Concierge on April 1, 2026, using separately priced flights based on current availability. The consultation deposit is $125 per person, capped at $250 per suite. It counts toward accepted airfare or becomes shipboard credit if you decline the proposal. A new request after accepted or canceled flights requires a new deposit.

Participating guests also receive airport to ship coach transfers on embarkation and disembarkation days and up to US$500 per suite in Blacklane chauffeur credit, subject to the program terms. Account for those benefits before adding transport costs again. That deposit is not the full flight price or a refundable cash credit. Check the air arrangement on your written quote, particularly if comparing an older booking or a different booking market.

Silversea currently offers three fare choices:

Flights, hotels and transfers can be added to Silversea's current fares. Older bookings retain their own terms. Read the applicable cancellation schedule alongside our guide to refundable cruise deposits; a refundable deposit does not mean a refund at any time.

Compare the tours you would choose

Regent includes a range of shore excursions, but Regent Choice excursions and other premium arrangements can cost extra. Included excursions have limited capacity. Make a port by port list of tours you would actually book, including their availability and physical requirements.

With Silversea Plus, subtract only the excursion credit you can use against eligible tours. Credit is not the same as every excursion being free. With either line, a private driver you book independently belongs in the cash budget even if the cruise includes alternatives. Our excursion booking guide covers that choice.

The suite and ship can change the comparison

Silversea includes a butler in every suite. Regent includes butler service from Penthouse level upward; Concierge level and above includes a night in a hotel before the cruise. Comparing those benefits may require different suite categories.

Check the actual floor plan, indoor area and balcony separately. Not every entry suite on every ship has a balcony. A Silversea Vista Suite and a Regent balcony suite are not matching accommodations just because both are the lowest advertised category.

Regent includes its specialty restaurants. Silversea has included dining plus venues with a reservation fee, such as La Dame. Check the chosen ship's restaurants and prices instead of assuming an unlimited restaurant budget. Both lines include standard onboard gratuities, WiFi and a broad drinks selection; that does not make spa treatments or every premium bottle free.

What our fare data shows

Regent Seven Seas Cruises had the lower advertised fare in 8.5% of cross-line comparisons, averaging equally across 9 matched groups (0.0% tied). The sample contains 37 sailings from Regent Seven Seas Cruises and 58 from Silversea Cruises.

Sample scope: on Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Silversea Cruises, with suite fares.

Fares observed 2026-10-16.

Example fares from one matching month, region, length and cabin group:

  • Regent Seven Seas Cruises: Seven Seas Explorer · 2027-07-14: 7 nights from Whittier, suite at $8,849.00 per person; $17,698.00 cruise fare for two guests sharing one cabin, taxes included. Observed 2026-10-16.
  • Silversea Cruises: Silver Whisper · 2027-07-22: 7 nights from Seward, suite at $4,100.00 per person; $8,200.00 cruise fare for two guests sharing one cabin, taxes included. Observed 2026-10-16.

These are advertised cruise fares, not a booking quote or a full trip budget. The agent must confirm availability, fare terms and the final price; travel, insurance, gratuities and optional extras may cost more.

How these examples are calculated

One lowest eligible advertised cabin fare per sailing; USD per person with taxes included, based on two guests sharing one cabin. Observations must be no more than two days old. Examples are the lowest matching totals in our catalog, not a claim about the entire market. Prices are rounded in our website export; availability and optional extras require confirmation. Each group matches departure month, region, nights and cabin class, with at least three sailings per line and ten per line overall. Each group has equal weight. Pairwise comparisons reuse sailings and are not independent bookings. Routes, ships, exact dates and included benefits can differ; this is a catalog comparison, not a universal cheapest-line ranking.

A hypothetical budget for two

These are invented planning figures, not available cruise quotes. Suppose two adults sharing one suite receive tax inclusive cruise totals of $14,000 for Regent and $12,400 for Silversea All Inclusive Plus. Assume comparable flights and transfers cost $2,000 for either trip.

The $1,600 cruise fare gap becomes a $500 trip gap. If the selected Regent tour is included, its total falls by $300. If Silversea's selected tours cost $700 more, it becomes the more expensive option. Add your own insurance, hotel and other planned spending to both totals without counting an included benefit twice.

No matched pair of current, available suite quotes was verified for this article. An advertised minimum or waitlisted category is not a booking price. The method in calculating the full cruise cost is more useful than comparing unrelated departures.

Use passenger reports for the right questions

A July 2025 Reddit comparison described paying substantially more for preferred Silversea excursions, while replies disagreed about which line had better food. Cruise Critic's September 2025 pricing discussion also shows why travelers worried about replacing bundled travel with separate purchases.

Those reports identify spending decisions, not a current price advantage. The Reddit sailing predates Silversea's new fare structure, and neither discussion establishes today's inclusions. Compare actual menus, tour choices, time in port and sea days for your two sailings before paying for a brand preference.

Frequently asked questions

Does Regent still include flights?

Not in every fare. For US and Canada guests, the Air Concierge program introduced April 1, 2026 prices flights separately at current market rates. Older Ultimate All Inclusive bookings and other booking markets can have different arrangements. Use the flight inclusion and air class stated on your own quote.

Is Silversea Plus worth the extra fare?

Compare the price increase with the shore excursion credit you will actually use and the value of the refundable deposit before penalties begin. A large credit offers little benefit if you prefer independent tours. Get the eligible excursion catalogue, credit amount and cancellation deadlines for the specific sailing before choosing.

Which line is better for someone who stays aboard?

The value of included excursions falls if you plan to remain aboard. Compare the actual ship, suite, included restaurants and fare after removing tours you would never buy from your value calculation. Silversea can make financial sense in that situation, but a particular Regent promotion could still produce the lower total.
