Vegan Dining Compared Across Cruise Lines
Compare vegan cruising by the meals you will actually eat: breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks on the specific ship. A published vegan menu is useful evidence; it does not guarantee every casual outlet has a suitable dish. Passenger opinions can help with variety and taste, but cannot establish one fleetwide winner.
Menus and named venues
Carnival publishes separate vegan dinner menus, but its current dining help excludes ships sailing in Australia. Check your deployment instead of relying on the original fleet rollout announcement.
Princess announced seven rotating vegan menus in main dining rooms, and its published sample menu directs guests to the daily vegan menu. Recent Reddit discussion still shows confusion between booking information and onboard availability. Confirm the menu for your ship and ask about breakfast and lunch separately.
Celebrity publishes a plant based tasting menu for Eden. Eden is a specialty restaurant on selected ships, so verify the venue, menu and price for your cruise. It is not a dedicated vegan restaurant or an inclusion in every fare. Our specialty dining guide explains how to compare that extra cost.
Norwegian lists Planterie on Aqua and Luna. Its launch material described plant based dishes including honey roasted carrots, illustrating why plant based should not automatically be read as vegan. Check the current ingredients. Other ships can offer suitable dishes without having that counter.
Do not turn menu format into a ranking
Royal Caribbean's current FAQ says vegan menus are available on request in the main dining room. Passenger accounts describing vegan choices within the regular menu do not justify saying the separate menu definitely no longer exists everywhere. Ask what is offered on your departure.
MSC publishes vegetarian and vegan dishes within its menus, although that wording does not promise a separate menu at every venue. Ask the dining team what is available normally and what requires advance ordering; a willingness to modify a dish does not promise unlimited custom cooking.
Virgin publishes vegan and vegetarian choices across its eateries. Menu labels help, but check the current dish and any modification. Recent Reddit discussions include enthusiastic reviews and complaints about limited choices at particular restaurants; both are individual experiences.
Ask about ingredients and the whole day
Vegetarian dishes may contain milk or eggs. Plant based marketing may include honey or dairy. Ask about stocks, sauces, noodles, buns and garnishes as well as the main ingredient.
Request current examples of complete breakfast and lunch meals, especially if dinner is the only published vegan menu. Check included cafes, port day hours and snacks rather than assuming a buffet has a dependable vegan station on every ship.
If you also have a milk or egg allergy, tell the team explicitly. Vegan ingredients do not guarantee absence of cross contact; our dairy free guide explains the distinction.
Arrange what the menu does not cover
Ordinary published choices may be ordered directly, while custom meals benefit from advance confirmation. Use the line's dietary contact if you need particular products or several restrictions together. Ask the restaurant manager whether preordering is needed and reconfirm changes of venue.
For needs beyond vegan ingredients, see the Jain meal guide. A vegan dish can still contain root vegetables, onion or garlic.
Frequently asked questions
Does Royal Caribbean still publish vegan menus?
Its current dietary FAQ says vegan menus are available on request in the main dining room. Menu formats and actual choices should be confirmed for your ship. Passenger reports alone do not establish that the policy has been withdrawn across the fleet.
Is plant based food always vegan?
No. The phrase can describe a dish built around plants while still containing honey, dairy or other animal ingredients. Ask about the complete recipe rather than treating a venue name or marketing description as a guarantee.
Do I have to preorder every vegan meal?
There is no universal requirement. A published menu choice may be available to order normally, while custom substitutions can require notice. Agree the process with your dining team and ask separately about breakfast, lunch and casual venues.
