Choose a Juneau excursion around one main priority: whale watching, a glacier visit, a flight, or time in town. Compare the total excursion duration with your ship's port hours before combining activities. Wildlife sightings and weather dependent flights are not guaranteed.

Mendenhall Glacier

The visitor area offers glacier and lake views and nearby walking routes. Visiting the lake or Nugget Falls is different from walking on glacier ice. Confirm the current visitor center and trail status before departure, because temporary closures can change access.

Arrange the outward and return transport together. Do not assume a glacier shuttle will be available as a last minute replacement for another canceled tour. Ask what the ticket includes and where you must meet the return vehicle.

Whale watching

Compare boat size, onboard facilities, accessibility, time on the water and pickup location. Ask how an operator's sighting guarantee works, if advertised: a future voucher or refund condition is not a promise of a particular encounter.
