Galveston cruises require an island transfer if you fly into Houston. William P. Hobby (HOU) is closer than George Bush Intercontinental (IAH), but compare airfare plus transport for every passenger before choosing. A hotel airport shuttle is a separate service from a ride to Galveston; check where a cruise shuttle picks up if you arrive the day before. The port has terminals 10, 16, 25 and 28, with different entrances and parking arrangements. Book parking for your actual ship and terminal: the port offers both park-and-walk options and economy lots with shuttles, so a nearby-parking claim alone does not tell you how you will reach check-in. Compare the complete parking quote, including tax, covered versus open space and transfers in both directions. For an overnight stay, The Strand offers historic downtown shopping and dining; the Seawall offers the beachfront. Check the route from your chosen hotel to your specific terminal, especially with luggage or mobility needs. The island trolley does not stop at the cruise port. Keep time for traffic and your assigned check-in window, and leave a buffer for disembarkation and the Houston drive before a flight home.
