Royal Caribbean's Crown and Anchor Society Explained

By The Fathom Fares Team · Published Aug 29, 2026 · Updated Sep 5, 2026 · Cruise Line Deep Dives

Royal Caribbean's Crown and Anchor Society awards Cruise Points for completed sailings and uses them to determine loyalty tiers. The published thresholds are Gold at 3, Platinum at 30, Emerald at 55, Diamond at 80, Diamond Plus at 175 and Pinnacle Club at 700 points.

How points build

The standard rate is one point per completed night. Eligible purchased suite accommodation adds a point per night, and a guest paying a single pricing type for a double occupancy cabin can also earn an extra point. A qualifying solo suite booking can therefore earn three points per night.

Do not assume a purpose built solo cabin or an upgrade obtained through a bidding program earns the same bonuses. Confirm the booking category and earning rule if points affect your decision. Seven nights at one point per night means seven points; it does not become fourteen because two guests share the room.

Value the benefits you use

Read the current benefit grid for your tier, including exclusions. Do not infer priority boarding, an upgrade or an unlimited drinks benefit merely from a high sounding tier name.

Diamond members receive four daily drink vouchers, Diamond Plus five and Pinnacle six. Value caps and venue exclusions apply, with regional differences. The vouchers reset daily; they are not an unlimited package. Apply their value before doing drink package math.

Recent passenger discussions recommend telling the bartender when you want to use a voucher and checking the receipt. That is practical advice for avoiding a surprise charge, not proof that every drink qualifies.

Family status and actual points differ

Each guest has an individual account and earned point balance. Royal also permits qualifying household relationships to share equivalent tier status, subject to its rules. Children can share a parent's tier up to Diamond Plus until age 18; this does not copy the parent's earned points into the child's account.

Ask the loyalty team to verify linked relationships and the transition at adulthood. Traveling in the same cabin is not by itself a promise that every guest receives the highest person's benefits.

Sister brands and Points Choice

Royal Caribbean Group offers status matching across Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Silversea under its conversion chart. Enroll in the applicable programs. Matched recognition does not include every benefit reserved for earned milestones.

For qualifying sailings departing from January 30, 2026, Points Choice lets you direct that sailing's earning to one of the three programs at published conversion rates. Royal's FAQ allows a request before sailing or up to 14 days after the cruise. Requests beyond that deadline are not processed.

Save the confirmation and check the balance afterward. Recent passenger reports describe posting delays, so allow the published processing period before escalating. Points Choice is not permission to move any historical balance whenever you want.

Compare these rules with Carnival Rewards and MSC's outside status match. A familiar tier is useful only if its benefits suit the next cruise you want to take.

Frequently asked questions

Do two guests share one points balance?

No. Cruise Points accrue to individual guests. Qualifying household relationships can provide equivalent tier recognition under Royal's rules, but that does not merge earned balances. Make sure each guest's loyalty number is attached to the booking and ask the loyalty team about any family relationship you want recognized.

Can I choose where points go after returning?

Royal's Points Choice FAQ permits requests up to 14 days after your cruise, as well as before departure, for eligible sailings. The transfer uses the published conversion rules between the three participating programs. Keep your confirmation and check the resulting balance after the stated processing period.

Does Diamond replace a drink package?

It may cover enough drinks for your preferences, but its daily vouchers have value caps and excluded venues. Count the drinks you would otherwise purchase after using eligible vouchers. Compare that remaining cost with the full package price for every required guest and night before buying.
