New Orleans has two neighboring ocean-cruise terminals on the Mississippi riverfront. Carnival uses Erato Street at 1100 Port of New Orleans Place; Norwegian and Royal Caribbean use Julia Street at 920 Port of New Orleans Place. Confirm the terminal on your cruise documents before arranging a ride. Erato's parking garage is above the terminal. For Julia Street, the port's current parking instructions direct drivers to 100 Poydras Garage, with a shuttle for passengers and luggage; the former Hilton Whale Lot is no longer used for port cruise parking. Check vehicle clearance, reservation terms and the full sailing's parking bill before paying. Flying into Louis Armstrong New Orleans International (MSY) still requires a transfer: the airport is about 16 miles from the terminals. Compare a taxi or rideshare for your party with any transfer priced per person, including the return trip. A pre-cruise stay gives you time to explore the Warehouse District or French Quarter, but check the city event calendar before booking a hotel because festivals affect room prices. Allow time for luggage and boarding checks on arrival, and for disembarkation, the airport journey and security before a return flight.
