Do Cruise Ships Have Laundry?

Paid laundry is widely available, but guest operated washers and dryers depend on the ship. Check your exact vessel before packing around a mid cruise wash. A line’s laundry service does not necessarily mean you can do it yourself.

Self service: check the ship

Holland America’s current FAQ says its ships do not have self service laundry rooms. Princess offers guest laundries on many ships. Carnival has several exceptions, so its fleet should not be treated as one answer.

Carnival’s current list excludes washers and dryers on Celebration, Festivale, Jubilee and Mardi Gras, though those ships have ironing rooms. Firenze, Luminosa and Venezia have neither guest washers and dryers nor ironing rooms. Paid valet service is available.

On Carnival ships with launderettes, the published price checked October 4, 2026 is $3.50 per washer load and $3.50 per dryer load. Most take the ship card; Elation and Paradise use coins. Detergent is sold separately. Confirm the onboard instructions and current charges before starting.

Paid laundry and pressing

Read the order form for eligible items, washing instructions, prices and return time. Ask your steward how to submit the bag. Delicate fabrics and clothes that must not be tumble dried need particular care; do not assume every request can be accommodated.

A bag promotion may cover only specified wash and fold items. It is not automatically cheaper than paying for the few items you need. Compare the offer with the per item list and check whether pressing is included.

Check the current order form for express service and pressing charges. Prices and return deadlines differ by line and ship.

Can you bring an iron?

Personal irons and clothing steamers are prohibited by major lines, including Royal Caribbean. Use the ship’s pressing service or an iron in a designated guest laundry where one is provided. Check the prohibited items guide and your own line’s list before packing an electrical appliance.

How much can you pack?

Pack enough essentials to cover the promised return time plus a delay. Check any suite or loyalty laundry allowance before buying a package, including item limits and exclusions. A benefit for one fare or status tier does not mean everyone receives free laundry.

For small hand washed items, follow the ship’s instructions and use a permitted drying arrangement. Keep wet clothing off furniture, electrical equipment and balcony rails. Drying time varies, so do not rely on an item being ready overnight.
